Using Statistics in Improving IH Exposure Judgments (“Running from Dart Throwing Monkeys”)

Facilitators: J. Mulhausen, P. Logan, 3M Company, St. Paul, MN; G. Ramachandran, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN; P. Hewett, Exposure Assessment Solutions, Morgantown, WV.

The facilitators teach participants the use of statistical tools for improving exposure judgment. Participants enhance their skills and knowledge in analyzing data in the exposure assessment process while learning tools, tips, and techniques for teaching these skills to others.

The expected outcomes are that participants will:

  • improve their personal statistical decision making skills
  • increase their comfort and familiarity with the workshop presentation materials, exercises, and statistical tools
  • learn how to integrate these materials into their own training programs

Boxed lunch included. Participants should bring a laptop computer. A software program for performing Bayesian decision analysis calculations will be distributed. Note: the software is designed for Windows-based PCs and will not run on a Macintosh computer without an emulator.
