Blood Drive

Raising the Game – Are You up for the Competition?

  • Every minute, patients use more than 36 units of blood or blood products. Every day, approximately 40,000 units of blood are used throughout the country.
  • Indiana Blood Centers provide blood to more than 60 hospitals in Indiana. On a daily basis, over 1,000 units of blood are needed to meet the needs of hospital patients.
  • Nearly 60% of Indiana Blood Center donations come through drives like the one held at AIHce.

Since 1998, AIHce has hosted a blood drive, bringing together registrants and the local community. The  AIHce 2012 Local Conference Committee and the Indiana Blood Center are the co-sponsors of this year’s drive. 

To boost this year’s donations, the sponsors have issued a challenge – beat the standing record of 129 pints donated at AIHce 2007.  

Prizes in the amount of $100, $50 and $25 will be awarded each day at random. A special Grand Prize will be awarded to one lucky individual if total donations exceed 129 pints.

Giving blood is safe, simple and takes less than an hour. Don’t know your schedule? Appointments can be made on site – sign up the day before or schedule an afternoon appointment the morning of. Requirements are minimal; in general, you need be 17 years of age and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds. The drive will be held at the Convention Center as follows:

Monday, June 18, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Tuesday, June 19, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Wednesday, June 20: 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
