Student + Early Career Professionals

Planning for sessions and activities designed to enhance the young professional’s experience at AIHce is underway. Students and IHs in the early stages of their careers are encouraged to participate in as many events as possible. Watch for details on these programs and more!

Call for Abstracts – 22nd Annual Student Poster Session

Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit submit abstracts for the Student Poster Session  scheduled Wednesday, June 20. The submission deadline is April 13.

Technical sessions that may be of interest to students and early career professionals.

Future Leaders and Young Member Reception

Mingle with members of the Future Leaders Institute and meet other young professionals. This event is scheduled for the evening of Sunday, June 17. 

Student Luncheon Discussion

Designed specifically for Students and Early Career Professionals, AIHA members lead informal lunch discussions on student related topics that include CIH Certification, How to Break the Ice with Workers to Accomplish IH Tasks, and Tips & Tricks for Effectively Communicating with Management.  Scheduled for 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18 in the Expo Hall.

Mentoring Program Networking Event

Join us at the Mentoring Program’s 2nd Annual Networking Event!!! This event is open to all participating members of AIHA’s Mentoring Program, as well as to students and professionals interested in being a mentor or having a mentor! The AIHA Mentoring Program is an excellent way to get involved in the community, to build your network, and to support the development of another professional!  Join us for food and fun at AIHce as we celebrate the success of this program on Monday Night, June 18 from 6:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. at the Indianapolis Colt’s Grille.

Looking to score your dream job in OEHS? The Development Fair will equip you with the tools you’ll need to navigate your career path. Find helpful information on job searching in today’s unstable economy, using social networking sites, writing an eye-catching resume, and more. Sign up to have your resume critiqued by a hiring manager.

Student Local Sections Council Business Meeting

Meet other student local section officers and share best practices. Anyone interested in creating a student local section is invited to attend. Scheduled for Tuesday, June 19 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Students and Early Career Professionals Committee (SECP) Meeting

Interact with members of the SECP Committee. Discuss current and new projects focused on developing outreach materials and mentoring students and early career industrial hygienists. Students are encouraged to attend. Scheduled for Tuesday, June 19 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Volunteer Collaboration Café

Need a place to relax for a few minutes or to meet-up with peers? Visit the Collaboration Café – a multipurpose area where you can rest, network with colleagues, and attend special seminars.

Volunteer Group Meetings

These are not closed door meetings! Unless otherwise noted, volunteer group meetings volunteer group meetings are open to everyone. More than 40 groups meet to discuss a variety of technical and non-technical topics including many that address student needs.
