You can now access your AIHce continuing education records online — any time, from anywhere!

Downloadable AIHA educational transcripts allow you to:

  • Review educational credits (CM, COC, CEU points) awarded by AIHA/AIHce
  • Update and add new course records from other organizations to your transcript for easy record keeping
  • Track training and professional development contact hours
  • Print a complete history as often as you like

AIHA educational transcripts:

  • Supply AIHce PDC certification information
  • List AIHce attendance information for weekday technical sessions
  • Do not track instruction and presentation points for authors, speakers, and instructors unless they are self-entered
  • Allow 45 days from course completion/attendance for certification information to appear on your educational transcript

AIHA maintains attendance records for seven years. Attendees are responsible for retaining all documentation for future reference and/or certification audits. AIHA charges a $50 replacement fee for all documentation (prior to 2010) verifying attendance. For complete information, visit www.aiha.org/CMReplacement.

Attendance and participation is required to earn certification credit. Partial credits will not be awarded for courses. Questions may be directed to Stacey Talbot, education manager, AIHA.


AIHA educational events are designed to provide CM credit for CIH certification maintenance and candidate training.  ABIH requires that content be aligned with at least one Category 4 (Education) CM Area (Ethics, IH, Safety) and be based on technical content time. ABIH has indicated that any event with an occupational or community health related emphasis will be acceptable for an “IH” CM Area.

ADDITIONAL GUIDANCE

Category 4 (Education = CM Credits) – for attendees of an educational event:

  • CEUs may be converted to CM credits (0.1 CEU = 1.0 hour)
  • Courses/ technical sessions MUST be a minimum 1 hour (60 minutes), with the exception of ethics courses/ technical sessions, which may be may be less than an hour
  • A full day event (8:00 am–5:00 pm) can be claimed as 7 hours (420 minutes) of CM credits /contact time.
  • A half day event (8:00 am–12:00 pm/ 1:00–5:00 pm) can be claimed as 3.5 hours (210 minutes) of CM credits /contact time.
  • Includes – technical portions of: presentations, lectures, sessions, workshops, Q&A, exams, event overview, technical tours, event recaps and discussions. o Excludes – non‐technical portions of presentations or discussions (on unspecified topics) and non content related activities such as breaks, lunches, networking events, social tours, exhibitor time, and travel time.

Category 5 (Teaching = CM Points) – for presenters and instructors of  oral, abstracts, technical sessions, poster presentations and PDCs, of peer-reviewed Industrial Hygiene related content, at a national or international conference:

  • PDC instructors earn 0.33 CM point per hour of instruction (NOT development) that they provide during a course.
  • Lead/ primary presenter/ author of an oral, abstracts, technical sessions or poster presentations greater than 20 minutes earn 1.0 CM point.
  • Co-presenters/ co-authors of oral, abstracts, technical sessions and poster presentations greater than 20 minutes earn 0.5 CM point.

ABIH will accept the following:

Attendees:

  • PDCs: AIHA Educational Transcript
  • General conference attendance for  technical sessions, workshops, discussions and tours:
    • In ADDITION to an AIHA Educational Transcript, evidence of physical presence in the city on the days claimed for CM credit.  Examples:  Approved expense report; hotel, meal, or parking receipts
    • ABIH CM Attendance Verification Form

Presenters and instructors of  oral, abstracts, technical sessions, poster presentations and PDCs:

  • Names/ Information listed on/ in one of the following: advance program, final program, online description (printed)

The Registration Maintenance (RM) Committee of the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH) has awarded:

  • 1.0 RM point per conference day
  • 1.0 RM point for each full-day PDC
  • 0.5 RM point per half-day PDC

Registrants claiming any RM points must provide proof of attendance.


AIHA is approved by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) to award CEUs to participants who successfully complete courses. In obtaining this approval, AIHA has demonstrated that it complies with the American National Standards Institute ANSI/IACET 1-2007 standards, an internationally recognized set of standards for good practice.

As a result of its authorized provider membership status, AIHA is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 standard. For point values, see individual PDC and symposium descriptions.


AIHA is authorized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) to issue COC points in conjunction with the CSP certification. For point values, see individual PDC and symposium descriptions.

BCRSP

BCRSP has awarded this course 2.0 CMPs. Please note that CMPs are awarded on a calendar basis only. CMPs are accrued by Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSPs) who are certified by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals.
